The survival of their colonial regime is guaranteed by the loyal troops of the Foreign Legion and by the capture of the French 'Jerboa', nuclear test devices.
This particular legionary is a member of the elite '1 Regiment Etranger de Parichutistes', (in reality the 1 REP was disbanded due to its role in the failed 1961 coup) and is armed with a MAT49 sub-machine gun. The uniform is my own interpretation.
